Argentine Rock Band Members Indicted in Nightclub Fire

An Argentine judge has indicted seven members of a rock band in connection with last December's fire at a Buenos Aires nightclub that killed 193 people.

Judge Julio Lucini announced the indictments Friday against members of the group Callejeros and moved to freeze their assets. He did not order them detained.

Investigators say the December 30 fire at the Cromagnon Republic club started when someone fired a flare into its foam-covered ceiling as the band performed.

The crowd tried to escape through the exits, but city officials say four of the doors were either padlocked or wired shut to prevent people from entering without paying.

Club owner Omar Chaban has been in police custody since the fire happened. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter.
