Cricket: Australia Scores Resounding Win Over South Africa

update

Australia's cricket team has scored a resounding 184-run win over visiting South Africa in the second cricket test in Melbourne.

Shaun Pollock scored an unbeaten 67 off 120 balls to defy the Australian attack for the morning session, but he ran out of batting partners. Stuart MacGill bowled number 11 Makhaya Ntini out six balls after lunch to wrap up the victory for the Aussies.

The final scores were Australia 355 and 321 for seven declared, and South Africa 311 and 181. The host Australians hold a 1-0 lead after the first test in Perth was drawn. The third and final test begins Monday in Sydney.

Australian bowler Shane Warne took 4 for 74 off 28 overs to finish the 2005 calendar year with 96 wickets. That is a new record. It takes his all-time leading total to 657.
