Five Shot to Death In Mexican Village

update

The bodies of five bound and blindfolded men have been found in a quiet Mexican coastal village.

Police in the town of Coyuquilla say the men had been shot multiple times and were surrounded by at least 30 spent bullet casings.

The killings are seen as the latest evidence of escalating violence between the Gulf and Sinaloa drug cartels in Guerrero State.

Earlier in April, a police commander and another man were decapitated and their heads placed outside state government offices in the beach resort of Acapulco.

Also in April a grenade was thrown into a restaurant in Petatlan, killing two people and injuring at least 16.

Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
