Golf: Woods, Perry Tied at NEC Invitational

World number one golfer Tiger Woods of the United States is tied with countryman Kenny Perry late in the rain-delayed third round of the World Golf Championships NEC Invitational in Akron Ohio.

Woods is 7-under-par through 15 holes while Perry has the same score through 17 holes of the third round. However, thunderstorms in the area forced the golfers from the course before the third round could be completed.

Ireland's Paul McGinley is 6-under-par through 15 holes while Stuart Appleby of Australia is 5-under-par. Two Spaniards, Jose Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia are four under for the tournament. Olazabal finished his third round with a 2-under-par, 68 but Garcia was still on the course when play was stopped.

Play was suspended late Saturday until 11 hours 30 UTC Sunday with the fourth round scheduled to start around 13 hours UTC Sunday.
