In National Basketball Association action Friday, The Washington Wizards' Brendan Haywood scored with just over seven seconds to play as the Wizards hung on to beat the New York Knicks 106 to 104 in Washington. Antwan James scored 25 points to lead the Wizards, who have won five of their last six games.
Minnesota's Kevin Garnett scored a season-high 35 points as the Timberwolves beat the Sacramento Kings, 113 to 105, in Minneapolis. The Wolves trailed most of the game before scoring 18 points to the Kings' three in the fourth quarter.
And in Toronto, Denver's Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points and Nene Hillario had 21 points to lead the Nuggets past Toronto, 101 to 87.
