Dozens of foreign students marched in St. Petersburg Thursday, demanding Russian authorities treat the death of a Congolese student as a racially-motivated murder.
The 29-year-old student died Wednesday - five days after unknown assailants attacked and beat him.
Several of the protesters held large photographs of the student as they marched up St. Petersburg's main street for a meeting with authorities.
Prosecutors say they believe the attack was not racially motivated.
But the students say there have been a number of racist killings in St. Petersburg and other Russian cities in recent years and are demanding action.
