Palestinian medics say an Israeli airstrike has killed two Palestinian gunmen near Israel's border with the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian radio says the two victims were with a group of Palestinians approaching a border fence near Khan Younis when an Israeli aircraft opened fire early Wednesday evening. Israel says the men were armed with rifles.
Israel has increased artillery shelling and airstrikes for the past week into Gaza, in a push to curb rocket fire from Palestinian militants into southern Israel .
On Monday, an eight-year-old girl was killed and 13 others were hurt in northern Gaza, when an Israeli artillery shell hit a house.
