Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is in a Paris hospital after suffering a minor stroke.

Bouteflika was flown to France late Saturday. Hours earlier, the government described his stroke as "not serious."

There has been no immediate government statement since the 76-year-old leader arrived in Paris.

Bouteflika has served three terms as president of the oil-rich African nation. He was expected to seek re-election next year.
