U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has been released from the military hospital where he was being treated since arriving in the United States more than a week ago.

Army officials say the former prisoner of war will continue to receive outpatient care at the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

Bergdahl has been in the care of military medical personnel since the Taliban-allied forces released him on May 31 after five years of captivity. The Army said Bergdahl's "reintegration process continues."

In exchange for his freedom, the United States released five Taliban leaders from the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba, sending them to Qatar.
