Berlusconi Sentenced for Publishing Wiretap Transcript

An Italian court has sentenced former Italian prime minister and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi to one year in prison for publishing the leaked transcripts of a police wiretap.

A court handed down the sentence on Thursday. Berlusconi can appeal the verdict if he chooses, which would suspend the sentence.

The decision involves the publication of a wiretapped call that was part of an investigation of an attempted bank takeover.

He faces two more verdicts this month, for charges of tax fraud and sex with an underage prostitute.
