Bolivia has unveiled a statue honoring the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in an Amazonian city that benefited from his generosity.

President Evo Morales inaugurated the statue in Riberalta on Wednesday.

During his 14 years in power, Chavez used his country's rising oil wealth to help Morales honor promises of social improvement, including the building of new roads.

Venezuela is also credited with providing tractors for poor farmers in Bolivia.

Chavez died in March after a lengthy battle with cancer.
