China Knife Attack Kills 3

Media reports indicate at least three people have been killed in a knife attack near a food market in central China's Changsha city.

Conflicting reports say Friday's incident was either a dispute between peddlers from China's restive Xinjiang region or a fight between vendors and customers.

The local Changsha Evening News newspaper said police fatally shot one suspect, while the Hunan Daily newspaper said police captured a suspect.

The incident came two weeks after the March 1 knife attack at a train station in southwestern China that killed 29 people. The government blamed that attack on Muslim Uighur separatists from Xinjiang.
