Workers carry out fumigation in Buenos Aires. Argentina has confirmed its first case of the mosquito-transmitted Zika virus after a Colombian woman living in Buenos Aires tested positive. In the city and its densely populated outskirts, workers have been fumigating parks to try to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits Zika as well as dengue fever and yellow fever.

A journalist interviews a local politician after two beech trees were bought down by a storm near Ballymoney. Two of the 200-year-old trees featured in the TV series "Game of Thrones" as the Dark Hedges, were uprooted and toppled by 80 mph winds which swept across Northern Ireland.

The first miner, is lifted from a collapsed mine in Pingyi, east China's Shandong Province. Chinese state media say two miners have been rescued from a collapsed mine after spending 36 days trapped underground. The gypsum mine collapsed on Christmas Day, killing one and leaving 13 others missing.
