LIVE BLOG: Hillary Clinton Accepts Democratic Nomination

update

Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president Thursday night with a message stressing the need to unite in order to confront the nation's challenges. "It truly is up to us," she said.

LGBT leaders walk onto the stage, including Sean Patrick Maloney, co-chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. He says he was near the Supreme Court when the same-sex marriage ruling was announced and the crowd began singing the National Anthem.

"It's a beautiful thing when the country catches up to you," he says.

Cleaver weaves two stories in which the main character "wouldn't stay throwed." He is saying Hillary Clinton "won't stay throwed," either. He revs the crowd up with his speech.

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri starts his speech by inviting Republicans who are unhappy with their candidate to come to the Democratic Party.

Cleaver says it is not midnight in America -- a reference to speeches given at last week's Republican National Convention -- he says it's barely dawn in America.
