Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president Thursday night with a message stressing the need to unite in order to confront the nation's challenges. "It truly is up to us," she said.

Valdez calls for a moment of silence for fallen officers.

She then introduces several family members of fallen officers. The crowd cheers as they walk on stage.

Dallas Sheriff Lupe Valdez speaks for police and the pressures they face.

Pierotti Lim says there are some who would say she is voting for Hillary Clinton because she's a woman, but she says that "dismisses my voice and Hillary's long record of public service."

To those saying they will sit this election out, "Your voice can help define the next chapter of American policy and American leadership around the world," she says, adding, "Weren't not just Democrats or Republicans. We're Americans."
