LIVE BLOG: Hillary Clinton Accepts Democratic Nomination

update

Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president Thursday night with a message stressing the need to unite in order to confront the nation's challenges. "It truly is up to us," she said.

Women U.S. senators walk out on the stage after the video.

Sen. Barbara Mukulski, the first woman elected outright to the U.S. Senate, tries to speak, but she is drowned out by loud, boisterous cheers from the crowd.

Mikulski is retiring this year after nearly 30 years in the Senate.

The senators describe the work Hillary Clinton did to help pass legislation on equal pay and women's health legislation.

A small chant of "Hillary!" breaks out in the arena.

More than 20 years ago, Hillary Clinton spoke at the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing and uttered the phrase that has been said often during this convention: "Human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights, once and for all."

The senators are all telling their own personal "Hillary" story.
