Authorities in India have arrested a second suspect in the rape of a 5-year-old girl in New Delhi.
Police said Monday the girl's 22-year-old neighbor, who was already in custody, named the second man as an accomplice.
The girl was reported missing from her New Delhi home on April 15 and found three days later in a locked room. Police say the suspects abducted, raped and tortured the girl, and left her for dead after the attack.
The medical superintendent at the hospital where she is being treated told reporters Monday the girl is recovering well and talking to her parents, but will likely remain hospitalized for two more weeks. Later, she will have to undergo reconstructive surgery.
Also Monday, India's parliament reconvened, but was adjourned a short time later after an uproar over rape.
The disruption follows protests Sunday by hundreds of people demanding New Delhi's police commissioner resign. It was the third day of demonstrations sparked by reports that police ignored the girl's disappearance and reportedly offered money to her parents in order to keep the matter quiet.
