Former president Bill Clinton tweeted he "would've sent real balloons, but we used them all last week," along with a photo of balloons at the Democratic Convention.

Obama celebrated his birthday with his family at a local Georgetown waterfront restaurant. Earlier in the day, his wife Michelle tweeted "55 years young and that smile still gets me every single day."

The Obamas go on vacation Saturday. Some of that time will be spent on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts where younger daughter Sasha has been working at a seafood restaurant.
