Remote Pakistan Struck by 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake


An earthquake measuring 7.8 struck southwestern parts of Pakistan on Tuesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake hit about 230 kilometers southwest of Dalbandin in Pakistan's Balochistan province, which is bordered by Afghanistan and Iran.

Pakistan's Geo TV reports that two people have been killed as some mud houses were destroyed in the quake-hit area. But there is no official confirmation of casualties.

The quake struck at 4:29 p.m. local time [1129 GMT] at a depth of 23 kilometers.
