LIVE BLOG: Donald Trump Vows Action, Law-and-order in Convention Speech

update

Donald Trump delivered his acceptance speech to the Republican National Convention, painting America as a country in dire straits, under attack both at home and abroad. He says he is the only candidate capable of making America safe and vows to take the actions necessary to protect Americans who feel unsafe.

The crowd giggles when Trump feigns modesty and says he doesn't know if he deserves the support of the evangelical christian community.

Maybe biggest cheer of the night, when Trump vows to repeal the amendment that prohibits tax-exempt institutions from openly advocating political views. "I am going to work very hard to repeal that language and protect free speech for all Americans."

Loudest "boo" of the night to Trump's suggestion that Democrat Clinton wants to do away with people's 2nd Amendment rights.

A new chant -- "Yes, you will!" -- to Trump's comments that he will get a list from government department heads identifying wasteful spending projects to eliminate in his first 100 days. He says other politicians have talked about this, but he will do it.
