Romania is voting for a new president Sunday.

Analysts say Prime Minister Victor Ponta will likely become the country's new leader.

Ponta is expected to win the first round of voting among 14 candidates, but not by enough to avoid a runoff next month.

The former prosecutor has pledged, if he is elected, to lower taxes, raise pensions and to uphold good relations with the European Union.

Incumbent President Traian Basescu is stepping down after 10 years in office.
