Suspected Robbers Kill 21 Villagers in Nigeria

Nigerian officials say suspected robbers attacked a northern village, killing at least 21 people. Most of the victims were worshippers who were leaving a local mosque after morning prayers.
Authorities say the attack occurred early Sunday in Dogon Dawa village in Kaduna state. They said armed robbers carried out the attack as part of a feud with a local vigilante group.
Kaduna is divided between Muslims and Christians and has seen sectarian violence in recent months, but the attack appeared to be unrelated to religious tensions.
Armed robberies along Nigeria's roadways are common. Local disputes erupting into violence also are common, especially in the north where the central government's rule is at its weakest.
