Tibetan Mother of 4 Self-Immolates in Western China

Tibetan sources say a 30-year-old mother of four set herself ablaze Sunday in China's western Sichuan province, in an apparent protest against Chinese rule in Tibet.
Witnesses say the Tibetan woman, identified as Kalkyi, died on the spot. As she was engulfed with flames, it was impossible to hear what she was saying.
Local Tibetans were able to take her body to a local monastery where monks performed spiritual rituals and prayers.
A source told VOA's Tibetan language service that Chinese officials and security personnel arrived at the monastery shortly after the incident and ordered the body cremated.
More than 100 Tibetans have self-immolated since 2009 to protest what they say is Chinese repression of their culture. China denies the charges and says the suicide protests are acts of terrorism.
