Two Afghan men getting military pilot training in the United States are missing from a base in Georgia in the southern U.S., but authorities say there is no danger to the public.

Police near Moody Air Force Base say the Pentagon thoroughly screens all trainees from Afghanistan and there is no evidence the two are terrorists.

The men did not show up for training Monday, but it is unclear exactly when they disappeared. They arrived in the United States in February as part of a U.S. Air Force program to train Afghan pilots and maintenance personnel.

Federal, local and state agencies are working with the military to find the men, said the local police chief.

An Afghan army soldier training at a U.S. base in Massachusetts disappeared in January and was granted asylum in the United States.
