As North Dakota endures rapid transformation related to the oil boom that has brought a flood of development and jobs, one key institution helping the state grow holds a unique distinction. The Bank of North Dakota is the only state-run bank in the country. As VOA’s Kane Farabaugh reports, the bank has experienced record growth and profits at a time when the economic downturn brought down much larger and more prominent banks.
