Tennis: Davenport Reaches Dubai Open Finals, Williams Eliminated

World number one women's tennis player Lindsay Davenport of the United States has reached the finals of the Dubai Open tournament, but compatriot Serena Williams is out of the event.

Davenport overcame a stomach bug, which made her feel ill on court, and rallied from a first set loss to defeat eighth seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Midway through the second set and feeling nauseated, Davenport called for the trainer and received medicine for her stomach. Shortly after that she began to strike the ball with more authority, and by the deciding third set the American star was in complete control.

Davenport plays Serbia-Montenegro's Jelena Jankovic in Saturday's final. Jankovic advanced when second-seeded Serena Williams retired with an arm injury in the second set 6-0, 4-3.
