Spurs, Pistons Vye for NBA Title Thursday

The National Basketball Association champion will be determined Thursday night (tipoff 0100 UTC Friday) when the San Antonio Spurs host the Detroit Pistons in Game 7 of the NBA finals.

This is the first time in 11 years that it took seven games to decide the NBA Champion. The Pistons kept alive their hopes of defending their title when they won Game 6, 95-86 Tuesday.

Richard Hamilton led Detroit with 23 points while Chauncey Billups added another 21 points for the Pistons.

Detroit is looking to win back-to-back games in San Antonio after having lost 10 straight games in the Texas city since 1997. The Spurs are trying to recapture the title they last held two years ago. History is on San Antonio's side -- the first four games of this series were overwhelming wins for the home team.
