Old Antibiotic Alternatives Getting Second Look in the West

An old alternative to antibiotics, developed in the 1940s, is getting a new look in the battle against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Phages are viral agents that attack bacteria but leave normal cells alone. The therapy was largely abandoned during the era of antibiotics but may provide a useful weapon in this era of drug resistant bugs. VOA's Kevin Enochs reports.
