U.S. and coalition forces continue to target the Islamic State group, conducting 16 airstrikes in Iraq and six in Syria in the ongoing operation.

The U.S. military said in a statement Saturday that the strikes occurred between 8 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, local time, as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft conducted 16 airstrikes near Beiji, Fallujah, Makhmur, Mosul, Ramadi, Sinjar and Tal Afar as approved by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.

In Syria, coalition forces struck targets near Hasakah, Raqqah and Tal Abyad, destroying vehicles and fighting positions.

The destruction of Islamic State targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group's ability to project terror and conduct operations, according to U.S. authorities.
