Science in a Minute: Sleep Troubles Can Make Grief More Difficult

The loss of a loved one can be one of life’s most painful events. Grief can take its toll on the mourner’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Having sleep problems can be an effect of grieving. But, an American and Dutch research team found evidence that those who had sleep difficulties before the death, could develop “complicated grief”. According to experts, those suffering from ‘complicated grief’ can have painful emotions that are more severe and last so long that the individual has trouble recovering and resuming their lives.
