Actor Paul Walker, best known for his role in the "Fast and Furious" action movies, has died in a car crash. He was 40 years old.

Walker's publicist said the actor was a passenger in a friend's car during a fiery crash north of Los Angeles, California. Both lost their lives.

Walker's publicist said the actor was attending a charity event for his organization "Reach Out Worldwide." The charity has sent teams of experts to help in areas hit by natural disasters. The organization recently was aiding victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and tornados in the U.S. state of Illinois.
