French Journalist Killed in CAR

A 26-year-old French photojournalist has been killed while documenting the deadly conflict in the Central African Republic.

The French president's office said Tuesday the body of Camille Lepage was found by French peacekeepers in a vehicle they stopped that was driven by Christian anti-Balaka militia in the western Bouar region.

In her last tweet about a week ago, Lepage said she was embedding with the anti-Balaka who are battling the remnants of a Muslim militia known as the Seleka.

The former French colony, CAR, descended into chaos after the mostly Muslim Seleka rebels seized power in March last year. Their abuses against the majority Christian population set off a wave of revenge attacks, killing thousands.

French and African troops have failed to stop the intercommunal violence.
