Israeli Military Launches Airstrike on Palestinian Man

Palestinians walk near the debris of a damaged motorcycle after an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.

The Israeli military says it launched an airstrike Sunday on a Palestinian man in the Gaza Strip who had fired rockets into southern Israel.

Israel says Abdallah Kharti is affiliated with the Popular Resistance Committees militant group, and had planned and carried out numerous attacks on Israel.

Hospital officials in Gaza say Kharti is in critical condition.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at his Cabinet meeting Sunday said, whoever attacks or plans to attack Israel "will bear the consequences."

The Israeli military say 33 rockets have been launched at Israel this year.
