Latest in Ukraine: Russian Drones Target Kyiv for 3rd Consecutive Night in Drone Attack

Latest developments:

  • Ukraine’s military cites some success in fighting along the front lines to the south of the Russian-occupied city of Bakhmut.
  • Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells reporters at NATO summit that Ukraine needs long-range weapons.

Officials in Ukraine’s capital said Thursday at least one person was killed after Russian drones attacked Kyiv.

Air defenses shot down at least 10 drones, the officials said, but falling debris struck residential buildings in several districts of Kyiv. The debris damaged buildings, sparked fires, and injured at least three people.

"Tonight, a massive attack by Iranian drones took place," Kyiv's military administration said on Telegram.

Russia has frequently targeted Ukrainian cities with aerial attacks featuring Iranian-made Shahed drones.

The latest wave was the third consecutive night in which the drones attacked Kyiv.
