Sixty people have been arrested in a joint operation against child pornography during raids across Latin America as well as Spain and the United States.
Authorities say Operation Without Borders also rescued three minors – ages 9, 14 and 15 – who were being used to make child pornography in Mexico. The videos were posted on Internet sites, on social media and sent by email.
The youngsters allegedly were "used by close relatives or neighbors to obtain images of child pornography that were later posted on Internet sites, on social media networks and sent by email," Mexico's National Security Commission said in a statement released late Sunday, the AFP news agency reported.
Authorities say Operation Without Borders involved raids in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Spain and the United States.
