At Least 10 Somali Troops Killed in Puntland

At least 10 soldiers in Somalia's Puntland region have been killed during an attack by militant group al-Shabab.
Al-Shabab said on Twitter that it attacked a military base late Tuesday near Bosasso, Puntland's largest city. The group said it killed nearly 30 soldiers and wounded more than a dozen.
Puntland's security minister, Kahlife Isse Mudan, told reporters Wednesday 10 government troops were killed when their armed vehicle struck a landmine. He also said seven militants were killed during the clash.
Al-Shabab members have retreated to other regions, including semi-autonomous Puntland, since losing their last strongholds in southern Somalia to African Union and Somali government forces.
The Islamist militant group continues to carry out suicide bombings and guerilla-style attacks.
