Chi-raq Tells Millennia-old Story of Sex, Violence

In Spike Lee’s latest film Chi-raq -- a composite of Chicago and Iraq -- gang warfare engulfs south Chicago. As the women lose their children and men to violence, they decide to withhold their affections to husbands and lovers until gang fighting ends in their neighborhoods. Known for his controversial films, Lee has taken his latest inspiration from the timeless ancient Greek satire Lysistrata, by comic playwright Aristophanes. VOA’s Penelope Poulou has more.
