October 7 marks ten years since the murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, a prominent critic of the Kremlin and its abuses, especially during the wars in Chechnya.  In both her killing and in the trial of the alleged murderers of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov that opened this week, Chechen men were accused.  But few believe whoever ordered the killings will face justice.  Meanwhile, Russia is using similar military tactics in Syria that it used in Chechnya.
