US Government Rejects Contentious Pipeline Route in North Dakota

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Sunday denied the permit that would be needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline's passage under the Missouri River not far from the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The decision ended a tense standoff between the government and several thousand people who had set up a protest camp on federal land near the construction site.
