Wave of Deadly Attacks Strikes Iraq

Officials in Iraq say a wave of attacks across the country has killed more than 20 people and wounded dozens.

Authorities say the worst of the violence Sunday was in the city of Hilla where a series of car bombs killed at least 10 people.

The head of Baghdad's provincial council survived an attack on his convoy in the capital Sunday. Authorities say a car bomb targeted the convoy, killing at least two people and wounding five. The council head escaped unharmed.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

The deadly incidents are the latest in a recent surge of violence in Iraq.
