Greenland Continues to Lose its Ice Sheet

  • George Putic

Scientists have been monitoring Greenland’s ice sheet for years to see how it is adapting to climate change. Covering more than 1.7 million square kilometers, it is the second largest ice body in the world, after the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Together, they contain more than 99 percent of the freshwater ice on Earth. To measure how quickly the Greenland sheet is melting and where the water is going, researchers are employing some unusual tools. VOA’s George Putic has more.
