New Technology May Help Those Waiting for Heart Transplants

Heart transplant surgery has been perfected in recent years and is now a common procedure. As a result, there is a shortage of donor hearts in the United States, and many patients die while waiting for a donated organ. Scientists in Seattle, Washington are now testing technology aimed at keeping donated hearts in good condition during transport, so that fewer of them are lost on the way. VOA's Zlatica Hoke has more.
