NHL: Devils Extend Winning Streak with Win Over Rangers

The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-2 win over their division rival New York Rangers in a National Hockey League contest Sunday.

Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta scored 39 seconds apart in the third period to lift the host Devils, and extend their winning streak to seven games. The playoff bound Rangers lead the Atlantic division.

The St. Louis Blues edged the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 to end a club-record 13-game losing streak.

In a cross-state match up, the Florida Panthers beat the struggling Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3. Tampa Bay is tied with Montreal for the final two playoff spots: seventh and eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

In the league's only other games Sunday, the Minnesota Wild clobbered the Colorado Avalanche 5-2, and the San Jose Sharks trounced the Dallas Stars 4-1.
