39 Dead in Pakistan Road Accident

Officials in Pakistan say at least 39 people were killed and around 17 injured early Sunday when a passenger bus ran into the back of a tractor pulling a trailer in southern Pakistan.

Police say the bus was traveling north near the town of Pannu Agil when it hit the the tractor-trailer.

Authorities said some of the dead were women and children. The death toll could rise.

Bad roads, poor driving and disregard for traffic laws frequently cause such accidents in Pakistan.
