40 Indonesians Missing After Boat Sinks Off Malaysia

TEXT SIZE - +
Malaysian authorities are searching for at least 40 Indonesian workers whose boat sank while bringing them home for the end of the Muslim fasting month, Ramadan.

Authorities say the boat capsized in heavy waves off Malaysia's southern Johor state late Thursday or early Friday.

Police say four passengers have been rescued and the search for the remaining 40 people is ongoing.

Officials believe the Indonesians were illegal workers in Malaysia and that they took the unsafe boat to avoid border controls.
