Indian officials say at least 17 people have been killed in a fire at a massive military ammunition depot in central India early Tuesday.
Some 19 others have been injured in the blaze that broke out around 1:30 a.m. local time.
Officials said the fire is under control and its cause is still unknown. Local media reports that thousands of nearby residents have been evacuated from their homes.
The Pulgaon ammunition depot in the Western state of Maharashtra is one of the largest in the country.
