Kerry Compares Ugandan Anti-Gay Law to Nazism, Apartheid

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has likened Uganda's new anti-gay law to Nazi Germany and South African apartheid.

Kerry Wednesday called the new law "atrocious" and "flat out morally wrong."

Kerry said anti-gay laws provide the United States with a challenge, because he said gay rights are human rights.

Denmark and Norway say they are cutting millions of dollars in aid to the Ugandan government because of the new law. Sweden is threatening to do the same. The value of the Ugandan shilling fell by more than 2 percent Wednesday.

President Yoweri Museveni signed the law Monday. It bans the so-called promotion of homosexuality. Those who engage in gay sex could face life in prison.
