Pakistan's military says at least 50 militants were killed Monday in airstrikes on hideouts in northwestern Pakistan along the Afghan border.
A military statement says the airstrikes in two areas of the North Waziristan tribal region also destroyed an ammunition cache.
The army has been waging an offensive against Taliban militants in North Waziristan for more than a year.
These airstrikes came a day after a suicide bombing killed Shuja Khanzada, the home minister for Pakistan's populous Punjab province, along with 14 other people.
Khanzada was killed at his home in the Attock district, about 100 kilometers northwest of the capital, Islamabad.
Witnesses say as many as 30 people were inside the minister's home when a suicide bomber entered and detonated explosives, despite an attempt by security guards to stop him.
Dozens of people, including police officers, were buried under the rubble after the massive blast caused the building's collapse.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the attack and said "nothing justifies terrorism."
