Strong Earthquake Strikes Off Indonesia Coast

The U.S. Geological survey said a 7.1 magnitude earthquake has shaken eastern Indonesia. The quake occurred at 1653 UT and was centered about 200 kilometers northwest of the Tanimbar Islands in Maluku Province.

The temblor occurred at a depth of 155 kilometers under the Banda Sea. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning.
