Three U.S. soldiers with NATO's International Security Assistance Force were killed Tuesday in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan.
The coalition says the attack occurred as the soldiers traveled with a convoy in the Zhari district of Kandahar province.
Earlier reports stated that four soldiers were killed in the attack, but an ISAF spokesman confirmed the three deaths and said several soldiers were also wounded in the blast.
Six civilians were also killed in two attacks in nearby Helmand province. In the first incident, a motorcycle bomber detonated his explosive at a market in the Garmser District, killing at least three people and leaving nine injured. Elsewhere in the province, three people were killed and four were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded in Marja district.
Meanwhile, Taliban militants say they have released the remaining four Turkish nationals held hostage since their helicopter went down in eastern Afghanistan last month. The aircraft had been traveling from Khost to the capital, Kabul, when bad weather forced it to make an emergency landing in the Taliban stronghold of Logar province on April 21.
The first four Turkish workers were freed on Sunday.
The militants are still holding the two pilots from Russia and Kyrgyzstan as well as the Afghan translator.
